Hood Louver Kit - Miata MX5 (ND)
OVERVIEW
The Verus Engineering Hood Louver Kit helps reduce engine bay heat and pressure. By improving the flow out of the engine bay, the louvers improve airflow through the radiator and condenser, achieving better cooling stack efficiency. By reducing the pressure buildup in the engine bay, the louvers reduce front end lift, creating a slight bump in front end downforce.
During the design process; we utilized scan data as well as CFD to place louvers that flowed well with the hood's contours and placed the units in a low-pressure location on the hood; improving their effectiveness.
This hood louver kit is for the ND Miata owner looking for a purposely placed, built, and tested louver kit that weighs less than most carbon hoods.

Science:
Utilizing CFD, we were able to place the louver in a low-pressure location on the hood, increasing the effectiveness of the louvers. Using scan data during the design phase, we were able to create a louver that follows OEM body lines. Both of these situations improve the aesthetics and performance of the louvers.
Our hood louvers greatly decrease the underhood temperatures by evacuating the hot air in the engine bay and pulling in cooler air from the radiator/grill area. This improves cooling stack efficiency by increasing the pressure delta between pre and post cooling stack. Another benefit of the louvers is a reduction in front end lift by reducing the underhood pressure. This is also known as downforce!
