    OVERVIEW

    The Toyota Supra comes with an array of sophisticated aerodynamic equipment from the factory, but we found ourselves wanting more from the performance-oriented model.  

    The Ventus 1 package is designed to increase performance safely and predictably with the addition of our Dual-Element Dive Planes and Rear Diffuser.  The dive planes improve front-end downforce by creating downforce on the units and improving the front-fender evacuation.  To balance out the front-end elements, a rear diffuser is added to increase tire grip at speed by reducing lift and drag. This diffuser is designed to increase straight line and corner speed and reduce lap times.  The anti-buffeting wind deflectors ensure sanity is kept on and off track when the windows are rolled down, a must have for the Supra.

    The dive planes wind deflector kit are produced by 2x2 twill carbon fiber and adhere to the car with 3M tape. The rear diffuser is CFD optimized and manufactured from 5052 aluminum sheet metal, laser cut, and press brake bent for an OEM-Plus fit and finish.

    All products were developed utilizing in-house scan data, CAD, and CFD analysis. This ensured an OEM-like fit and finish and function as intended for performance. This is an excellent first step in aerodynamic and chassis tuning for any customer looking to add both function and form to their A90/A91 build.

    Science:

    The Verus Engineering Ventus 1 kit was designed for the Performance Enthusiast who wants to dip their toes into improved aerodynamic performance for their MK5 Supra. By increasing a bit of front downforce and adding a rear diffuser to reduce lift and drag, we can safely add additional performance to the Supra and keep a fairly stock, or OEM+, appearance. This creates a safe and effective improvement in aerodynamic efficiency that leads to lower lap times and an improved driving experience. 

    Verus Engineering uses OpenFOAM for all our CFD cases. To ensure accuracy and repeatability, we have validated our CFD in a number of ways, both on and off track. Our vehicle models are obtained by scanning our development vehicles and reverse engineering them for accuracy. 


    Science:


    The Verus Engineering UCW Rear Wing was specifically designed for the Mk5 Toyota Supra enthusiast who wants more rear-end downforce. The wing has the capability of operating and generating downforce from 0 to 15 degrees angle of attack.  This allows the wing to balance out a variety of front aerodynamic kits.  As part of our Ventus 3 aerodynamic kit, the rear wing, and aero kit adds a significant amount of downforce to the car to help reduce lap times and increase corner speed.

    Our CFD data and our real-world experimental data match up quite well. The wing hit all the major goals we set forth to achieve first in our CFD simulations and then with our real-world testing. The strong correlation between CFD data and real-world testing validates both our CFD analysis approach and the wing’s performance.
