    OVERVIEW

The Verus Engineering Oil Cooler Kit for the MK5 Supra helps reduce both the oil and coolant temperatures of the Supra on track. Under severe conditions and with increased power, the oil and coolant systems can become overwhelmed. In factory format, the oil is cooled by the engine coolant via a water-to-oil heat exchanger on the block. When utilizing our air-to-oil cooler, we remove this heat exchanger which is adding heat to an already overworked coolant system. As a result, the cooling capabilities of the Supra are increased, ensuring oil viscosity is maintained, the coolant system is less strained, and the Supra can stay on track longer.

Using scan data, we developed the oil cooler kit that has an OEM-type fit and finish for the entire kit.  We took special care to ensure the cooler was placed in an area that received excellent airflow with little impact on the vehicle's aerodynamic performance and even utilized the Supra's OEM air duct design from the OEM heat exchanger for a premium fit-and-finish. The engine block oil cooler adapter plate is proudly machined in-house on our 5-axis CNC mills.

Through on-track data with a variety of drivers, we found the oil cooler to work very well on the car, dramatically reducing both oil and coolant temperatures and improving overall cooling efficiency.

    Science

Today's high-performance engines generate a significant amount of heat during hard driving. This causes an increase in oil temperatures that can lead to viscosity degradation, reducing the oil's ability to lubricate parts properly and causing increased wear and tear. The Toyota Supra utilizes a coolant, or water-to-oil heat exchanger to reduce the oil temperatures. Under demanding conditions, this can overwhelm both the coolant and oil systems. Working with drivers and owners who are pushing the limits of their Supras on track, we identified and helped create a solution that replaces the driver's side heat exchanger and dedicates a large air-to-oil cooler to the job of keeping engine oil temperatures constant.  Installing the oil cooler dramatically drops oil temperatures while also increasing the cooling system's efficiency. The oil cooler kit outperforms the factory system under heavy loads and extended periods, making it perfect for the track day enthusiast or professional racer.
