    OVERVIEW

The Verus Engineering Backing Plate kit is constructed from a stainless backing plate for durability and a properly formed and located dry carbon duct that directs air into the center of the rotor.  This is a great start to a do it yourself brake cooling kit for FRS/BRZ/GT86s.

Increase endurance, life expectancy, resistance to brake fade, and resistance to boiling brake fluid by hooking up a 2.5" silicone brake hose to these backing plates and running cool air through the rotors.

The backing plates are designed to work with OEM and aftermarket big brake kits, this is a must for those looking to get the most from their brakes. Stainless hardware throughout and hard anodized aluminum spacers ensure the kit will remain rust-free for the life of the units.

Note: In some severe cases the backing plate may need to be trimmed. IE: AP sprint kit with Whiteline roll center adjusters.  The lower control arm to rotor clearance is less than the thickness of the backing plate.  The AP Sprint BBK will fit without trimming on factory ball joints.

    SCIENCE

Via tuft testing and thermal image testing, it’s quite clear that the brake cooling kit is highly effective even when used with the OEM rotors which have small vanes when compared to those of big brake kits. Smaller vanes will hurt flow and cooling due to the reduced size. With the brake cooling kit, the rotors remained much cooler directly after applying the brakes as well as after a short drive without using the brakes. It is also apparent that at high rates of speed, the brake cooling kit does significantly more than at lower speeds. This makes a lot of sense as the kit works by using frontal ambient air and funneling it into the center of the rotor. At higher speeds, pressure and flow rates are greater than at low speeds. We have heard reports back from customers tracking their cars having reduced brake fade, reduced rotor cracking, improved pad wear, and reduced brake fluid boiling. As a result, this is a great kit to help keep brake components at an appropriate temperature during competition and/or track days.
