Aftermarket camber plates for your Supra may be just what you need to lower those times and keep more of your tire on the pavement when cornering. Learn more about these affordable suspension modifications and the benefits they provide.
What Are Camber Plates?
Aftermarket camber plates like this one from Verus Engineering allow you to customize the handling of your car.
Camber plates are typically a direct replacement for an OEM top hat and are installed on top of a strut. They connect the shock absorber with your vehicle’s chassis and allow you to make precise camber adjustments.
Camber refers to the vertical angle of the wheel in relation to the road surface. Negative camber is generally preferred in track cars as it counteracts the tire's tendency to roll on its outer edge when cornering.
Negative camber is generally preferred on track setups to give you more tread on the pavement when cornering.
Benefits Of Aftermarket Camber Plates
Optimize your track setup with camber plates like this one on a Toyota Supra.
Cornering speed will often make or break your lap time. If you’re looking for improvement in that area, aftermarket camber plates can make a noticeable difference. Here are some of the benefits:
- Enhanced performance: Changing the camber can put more tread on the track in corners, allowing for improved grip, stability, and higher speeds.
- Customized handling: Camber plates let you fine-tune your vehicle’s handling to suit specific preferences and driving styles.
- Improved tread wear: Adjusting camber can help promote proper tread wear and increase the lifespan of your tires.
- Flexibility in suspension tuning: Camber plates let you adjust the camber angle without impacting other aspects of the suspension, like ride height or spring rate.
